PiS Intrigue: Kaczyński Warns Over Morawiecki’s Expensive Grill, While PKW Issues Clarification

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s upcoming association event sparks internal friction within PiS as Jarosław Kaczyński warns of subsidy loss and the National Electoral Office responds.

Morawiecki Announces Association Event

Morawiecki announced that a major event by the Rozwój Plus Association named “Rozwój Plus Wy” will take place on July 31, inviting people to panels, discussions on Poland’s future, and a shared barbecue.

The former prime minister stated on a July 9 video that discussions will cover the economy, security, family, local governments, and the country’s future, calling on citizens to join for a great, proud, and strong Poland.

Kaczyński Warns of Subsidy Loss

Jarosław Kaczyński criticized Morawiecki’s initiative on Kanał TAK, pointing out that the party cannot finance or be financed by external entities, and warned that the barbecue will cost a lot.

Kaczyński stated that if the party financed the venture, an objective court would view it as an attempt to bypass the law since the association is a separate entity, which would result in the loss of party subsidies under the Political Parties Act.

PKW and Müller Respond

The National Electoral Office (KBW) stated that formal party associations do not exist in the Polish legal order and parties cannot create or finance them, though they can use their paid services.

KBW explained that the Political Parties Act does not ban party members from participating in foundation or association events or funding them with private money. Piotr Müller responded on X that the activity does not threaten PiS subsidies and proves an intrigue is being conducted within the party, which must be stopped to maintain unity.
