Talks at Nowogrodzka end in fiasco: “We want an agreement, not humiliation”

Ultimatum and the Row Over Rozwój Plus

On Thursday, July 23, a meeting took place between Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki. The same day marked the expiration of an ultimatum issued by the party leadership stating that every PiS parliamentarian must submit a declaration confirming they do not belong to political associations operating within the grouping. Those who fail to do so face exclusion from Law and Justice. The issue primarily concerns the Rozwój Plus association, established by Mateusz Morawiecki, which was joined by politicians from his faction.

PiS Spokesperson on Constructive Yet Inconclusive Talks

Following the conclusion of the meeting, PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek reported that the talks were constructive, but did not lead to a resolution of the core issue. He added in a post on X that all parliamentarians within their political environment have the same rights as well as obligations.

Piotr Müller Presents Compromise Proposals

Piotr Müller spoke out following the meeting between Morawiecki and Kaczyński at Nowogrodzka. In a statement published on social media, Müller stated that talks with Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński were conducted in good faith and with a very strong will to reach an agreement, presenting 21 specific mechanisms to calm the situation, rebuild trust, and end the unnecessary dispute.

Defense of the Rozwój Plus Association

The politician also informed the party that members of Morawiecki’s association presented a whole range of compromise proposals, extending a hand for agreement and demonstrating good faith, loyalty, and responsibility for the camp’s future. He argued that Rozwój Plus was formed to reach new social groups, rebuild trust, strengthen the center-right, and serve as added value for the entire patriotic camp.

Rejection of Demands to Sign Loyalty Declarations

Müller argued that loyalty is proven through years of work and responsibility rather than a document pushed forward for signature, stating that they want an agreement rather than humiliation, and a strong Law and Justice rather than an increasingly smaller and closed party. He maintained that good faith remains unchanged, leaving time for an agreement, calming emotions, and fighting Donald Tusk, while asserting that the association remains a chance to expand the center-right and guarantee future victory.
