Thursday at midnight marked the deadline set by the leadership of Law and Justice for its members regarding a resolution banning participation in political associations, foundations, and organizations. The resolution requires members to immediately leave such organizations and submit a confirming declaration, dubbed a loyalty pledge, primarily targeting the Rozwój Plus association created by Mateusz Morawiecki.

This organization has become the main bone of contention within PiS, prompting a Thursday meeting attended by Jarosław Kaczyński, Mateusz Morawiecki, Jacek Sasin, and party general secretary Piotr Milowański. Despite several hours of talks, Rafał Bochenek reported that the discussions did not lead to a resolution of the core issue.

According to Piotr Müller, a 21-point compromise proposal was presented to Kaczyński, but the PiS leader remained inflexible, demanding the association’s freezing and a declaration of no political activity as a non-negotiable condition, which Morawiecki rejected. WP reported that Kaczyński evaluated the former prime minister’s actions as insane, with one source stating the leader remarked that Morawiecki went mad and overbid.

Interia corroborated that Kaczyński stated in a tight circle that Mateusz went mad and adopted a zero-concessions strategy, with sources adding that the leader presented variants all starting with a resignation declaration and asserting Mateusz is playing for expulsion. Meanwhile, politicians linked to Morawiecki claimed their opponents do not want an agreement and want to push them out of the party.

Bocheński Defends Kaczyński and Criticizes Müller

Tobiasz Bocheński stated on TVN24 that Morawiecki refused a compromise and failed to submit a declaration of party membership, signaling a will to leave PiS, and added that there is no activity Morawiecki could conduct in an association that he couldn’t in PiS. He criticized Piotr Müller’s suggestion that politicians are trying to push Morawiecki out, stating it hurts to imply Jarosław Kaczyński is incapacitated and emphasizing that Kaczyński makes conscious decisions.
