Tomczyk Rules Out Coalition Cooperation With Morawiecki Amid Deep PiS Infighting

Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk declared he cannot imagine Civic Coalition cooperating with Mateusz Morawiecki, as a bitter factional war tears through Law and Justice.

Zero Common Ground Left in Law and Justice

Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk, speaking on Polsat News program “Gość Wydarzeń,” emphasized that nothing connects the warring factions within Law and Justice anymore. He described the ongoing dispute as both personal and substantive, touching on political lines, attitudes toward Europe, and the rule of Law and Justice, featuring radicals on both sides.

Tomczyk added that two groups within PiS are locked in a mortal struggle, utilizing quasi-mafia tools to destroy one another. He stated that he is not rooting for either team, but rather for both to fight as long as possible, arguing that PiS served Poland poorly over eight years and that internal corruption is now coming to light.

Morawiecki Blamed for Lost EU Billions

Asked about any possibility of Civic Coalition cooperating with Morawiecki’s association, Tomczyk stated he cannot imagine it, calling Morawiecki a man who provoked a major war with the European Union and lost everything on it. While it was suggested Morawiecki wanted to end the conflict but was blocked by Zbigniew Ziobro, Tomczyk noted that Morawiecki was prime minister when hundreds of billions of zlotys intended for Polish entrepreneurs were blocked.

Tomczyk claimed the former prime minister intended to take over Jarosław Kaczyński’s party, warning that if a takeover proves impossible, it will end in a split within months. Assessing the situation as a long-time politician, he stated he has no friends among PiS politicians and that the situation has gone too far.

Nawrocki Alliance and Ultimatum Deadlines

Addressing suggestions that President Karol Nawrocki might try to unite four fragmented right-wing groupings, Tomczyk warned that such a move—including figures like Grzegorz Braun—would mean Poland cutting itself off from the United States, the European Union, and every other partner.

Meanwhile, the midnight deadline for an ultimatum targeting PiS parliamentarians passed, with an unconfirmed number of MPs and MEPs refusing to sign loyalty pledges barring association memberships. Following a three-hour meeting between Kaczyński and Morawiecki that yielded no breakthrough—despite Kaczyński offering to freeze the Rozwój Plus association until parliamentary elections—Jarosław Kaczyński is scheduled to deliver a statement on the party’s situation at noon.
