Leaked PiS Internal Polls Reveal Morawiecki Party Support Figures

Internal PiS polls show Mateusz Morawiecki’s potential party at 2.8 percent, though other polls place it higher amid an ongoing ultimatum and conflict within the party leadership.

Leaked PiS Internal Polls

In polls that recently arrived at the PiS headquarters, a potential party of Mateusz Morawiecki could count on 2.8 percent support. Newsweek.pl reported that PiS was losing 0.7 percentage points to Rozwój Plus. This would mean that the grouping formed on the basis of the Rozwój Plus association would currently have no chance of passing the 5 percent electoral threshold.

A similar result was obtained by Mateusz Morawiecki’s grouping in a recent poll by the Pollster Research Institute for Super Express, at approximately 2.3 percent.

Contrasting Poll Results

So low support for a potential party of Mateusz Morawiecki is not certain, however. In a poll conducted by Opinia24 for TVN and TVN24’s Fakty, such a party could count on 6.2 percent support, which would realistically reduce Law and Justice’s results from 23 percent to 17.7 percent.

Meanwhile, in a United Surveys by IBRiS poll for Wirtualna Polska, 6.9 percent of respondents supported Morawiecki’s party, while Law and Justice would drop below 20 percent with a result of 18.9 percent.

Ultimatum and Association Conflict

Midnight on Thursday marked the deadline of the PiS leadership’s ultimatum for the party’s parliamentarians to submit declarations of non-membership in associations, under threat of exclusion from the party. The matter primarily concerns members of the Rozwój Plus association, which was founded by former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Refusal to Sign the Declaration

Morawiecki announced on Friday morning in an interview with wPolsce24 television that he will not sign any loyalty pledge. He noted that during Thursday’s meeting with PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński, he presented 21 points of compromise, including a proposal to resign as deputy party leader to become a rank-and-file PiS member focused primarily on reaching new voter groups.

Failed Compromise Efforts

PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek stated that President Jarosław Kaczyński put forward a series of compromise proposals, including freezing rather than liquidating the Rozwój Plus association until the parliamentary elections and transferring all of the association’s activities to the party with its full support. This proposal also failed to gain acceptance. An agreement between Morawiecki and Kaczyński was not reached on Thursday.
