Missile Strike on Kyiv Region Military Polygon Leaves 10 Dead

At least 10 people are killed and around 100 injured after Russian forces strike a military polygon hosting a drone exhibition in the Kyiv region.

Ballistic Missile Alert Issued

At 11:25 local time (10:25 in Poland), a ballistic missile threat alert was announced in Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and other regions of Ukraine. Air space monitoring channels reported missiles approaching from the northern direction toward the Ukrainian capital, according to PAP.

Exhibition of Unmanned Technologies Hit

The Ukrainska Pravda portal reported that Russians attacked a military polygon hosting a military exhibition of unmanned vehicle producers and related technologies. The declared purpose of the event was comprehensive solutions for protecting critical infrastructure from modern airborne threats, Ukrainska Pravda stated. Ten fatalities and about one hundred injuries are confirmed.

Casualties Reported in Sloviansk

Russians also attacked Sloviansk in the Donetsk region on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated. Five people were killed and nine were injured. Russians damaged residential buildings, a consulate building, and cars, Zelenskyy reported on Telegram.

Ukraine Launches Two Investigations

In connection with the attack, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko announced the initiation of two investigations. One concerns war crimes, while the other addresses the possibility of dereliction of official duties by the event organizers, which may have contributed to human deaths.

War does not exempt anyone from responsibility for management decisions, Kravchenko commented, noting that the investigation will determine who decided to organize the event, approved the location, time, and format, provided security measures, and assessed risks under martial law conditions.

Massive Air Attacks and Interceptions

During the night from Thursday to Friday, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with five Kh-59/69 guided air missiles and 180 drones. Ukrainian air defense shot down four Kh-59/69 guided missiles and 160 hostile Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones in the north, south, and east of the country. Hits by one guided missile and 14 strike drones were recorded across nine locations.

Ukrainian Strikes on Russian Facilities

Russia also experienced another restless night, as Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck a defense plant in Kirov, Russia, and an oil facility on Russian territory. He emphasized that an operation targeting the logistics industry supplying the Russian military with drone components and navigation equipment is ongoing.

Our Defense Forces struck one of the important defense enterprises in Russian Kirov today, which supplies components for the occupier’s aviation and missile equipment used in mass attacks on our cities and communities, Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram, thanking soldiers for their precision as a completely fair response.

According to Kirov Oblast Governor Alexander Sokolov, the Ukrainian attack resulted in six deaths and 26 injuries.
