Warsaw Uprising Run Brings Street Closures and Transit Diversions

The 35th Warsaw Uprising Run on Saturday evening, July 25, will introduce significant street closures and public transport diversions across the Śródmieście, Żoliborz, and Bielany districts.

Event Schedule and Route Details

The 35th Warsaw Uprising Run kicks off the anniversary commemorations of the capital’s heroic uprising, with runners competing in five or ten-kilometer distances on Saturday evening, July 25, through Śródmieście, Żoliborz, and Bielany. The shorter run starts at 20:15 and the longer run at 21:15, both beginning at Krasiński Square and finishing on Zakroczymska Street, while streets along the route will be closed and public transport will operate on detours.

Participants in the five-kilometer run will traverse Bonifraterska, Muranowska, Anders, and Mickiewicz streets, Wilson Square, Krasiński Street, the side road of Wybrzeże Gdyńskie, the Warsaw Citadel area, and Jeziorański Street to Zakroczymska. Meanwhile, the ten-kilometer runners will diverge from Wilson Square via Słowackiego, Gdańska, Hłaski, Lektykarska, Podleśna, Gwiaździsta, and Krasiński streets, continuing along the Wisłostrady side road through the Citadel to Jeziorański and the finish line near Traugutt Park, with further details available on the official website.

Traffic Restrictions and Pedestrian Rules

Organizing the run requires street closures, prompting drivers to choose alternative routes during the event, while pedestrians will only cross streets at designated locations under the supervision of event staff or the police. Certain streets will remain accessible exclusively to local residents.

Parking along the route is strictly prohibited, as no-stopping signs will be accompanied by information plates warning that unauthorized vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Public Transport Changes and Free Travel

Throughout Saturday, bus line 178 will operate on a shortened route from Skorosze to Daszyński Roundabout, and line 503 will start and end its services at Grzybowski Square. Starting at 14:00, bus lines 100, 116, 180, and 518 will run on detours, while from around 19:30 tram line 6 and bus lines 100, 114, 116, 122, 157, 180, 181, 185, and 518 will follow altered routes, and tram line 76 will terminate its services.

Regardless of the chosen distance, participants in the 35th Warsaw Uprising Run can travel on Warsaw Public Transport free of charge on Saturday, July 25. Using their start number, runners can ride buses, trams, the metro, and SKM, KM, and WKD trains within the ZTM 1st ticket zone.
