Terlecki Praises Kaczyński While Warning That “Buttermen” Are Steering PiS Toward Defeat

Ryszard Terlecki declared on Friday, July 24, that Jarosław Kaczyński remains the most outstanding politician of the last 35 years, while warning that party factions are leading Law and Justice to ruin.

Terlecki Warns of Defeat

Ryszard Terlecki stated on Friday, July 24, in a post on the X platform, that Jarosław Kaczyński remains the “most outstanding politician of 35 years.” However, as he added, “buttermen are leading PiS to defeat.”

“I think the day will come when the President will chase them away and together we will go for victory,” stated Terlecki, who is among the politicians expelled from Law and Justice.

Scouts Versus Buttermen

“Scouts” is the group gathered around Mateusz Morawiecki—some of them, though not Morawiecki himself, have a background in the Association of Polish Scouting and Guiding, hence the name of the faction. They are mainly people with whom Morawiecki collaborated back when he was a bank president and later as prime minister.

“Buttermen” is, in turn, the opposing camp, closer to Jarosław Kaczyński, which includes Jacek Sasin, Przemysław Czarnek, Patryk Jaki, and Tobiasz Bocheński, among others. The name refers to a post by MEP Bocheński, who was outraged that he got German butter on board a LOT plane. The term stuck to the faction as a label given by opponents.

Jabłoński Reveals Negotiation Behind-the-Scenes

Paweł Jabłoński, a mediator from Mateusz Morawiecki’s Rozwój Plus association, revealed in an interview with PAP that negotiations with the PiS leadership lasted a dozen or so hours over three days: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. As he said, he held the most talks with PiS Secretary General Piotr Milowański.

Asked about the course of events, he stated that it is “sad” and he feels “disappointed,” because until the very end he “had a shadow of hope that something would change.” At the same time, he emphasized that the development of events was not a surprise to him because “that’s what it looked like for a couple of days.” – It turned out badly. Jacek Sasin is happy, Jacek Kurski is happy, Tobiasz Bocheński, Patryk Jaki, and a few other people. Well, and Donald Tusk is happy – summarized Jabłoński.

Constructive Talks Without Political Will

According to him, Milowański “constructively” tried to “help a lot.” Jabłoński assessed that the intensive talks went “well.” As he said, the negotiations consisted of “creating various ideas,” a total of 21 of which were created and collected into a list. According to Jabłoński, all these proposals were “fulfillable or correctable.” – These were ideas that we worked out and brought to Mr. President, but after arrangements with Milowański – Jabłoński pointed out.

In his opinion, the fundamental problem, however, was that “even the best-written agreement cannot enter into force if there is no political decision.” – And a political decision was made this way and not otherwise. And it was, unfortunately, implemented – Jabłoński emphasized.
