PiS Rift Deepens as Jabłoński Blames Sasin and Reveals Kaczyński’s Past Split Plan

Following a party ultimatum over membership in political associations, PiS faces an internal fracture as Paweł Jabłoński points the finger at Jacek Sasin and outlines past discussions regarding a managed party split.

Ultimatum and Departures

At midnight on Thursday, July 23, the deadline set by the PiS leadership for the party’s parliamentarians expired. By this time, members were required to declare their resignation from memberships in political associations or organizations, primarily targeting the “Rozwój Plus” Association founded by Mateusz Morawiecki.

The following day, Jarosław Kaczyński announced that thirty-some PiS members had resigned from their membership. The PiS leader emphasized that the Political Committee will meet next Tuesday to formally acknowledge this fact.

Jabłoński Blames Jacek Sasin

Appearing on the “Śniadanie w Trójce” program on Saturday, Paweł Jabłoński, a member of Morawiecki’s association, stated that Jacek Sasin is one of the individuals responsible for the division in PiS. He claimed that Sasin’s actions handed Donald Tusk a massive gift and a lifeline.

Jacek Sasin represents the faction known as the “butter-makers,” opposed to the group of politicians linked to Mateusz Morawiecki, who are called the “scouts.” Jabłoński suggested thanking Sasin with a large bouquet of flowers for his help and expressed deep regret over the party split caused by a narrow leadership group.

Denial of Immediate Breakaway Plans

Addressing questions from program host Renata Grochal about the plans of Morawiecki’s association members, the MP stated they had spent recent days actively trying to reach an agreement rather than preparing to establish a new club or party. He noted they will now have to consider their next steps, though no actions have been taken yet.

Kaczyński’s Plan for a Controlled Split

In another interview with wPolsce24, Jabłoński discussed a conversation he had with Jarosław Kaczyński in July of the previous year, shortly after Karol Nawrocki won the presidential election. He noted there were political plans centered around the opportunity to remove Tusk from power, during which the PiS leader proposed a controlled division of the party to attract new voters.

Jabłoński recalled that Kaczyński analyzed Nawrocki’s first-round result of 29 percent as their baseline support level and suggested it needed expansion. The leader personally spoke to him about a controlled split within a single party featuring two wings, with one notionally led by Przemysław Czarnek and the other by Mateusz Morawiecki.
