Nearly a Ton of Marijuana Discovered in Clothing Containers as No One Claims the Shipment

On July 21, 2026, customs officers in Gdynia seized nearly a ton of marijuana hidden inside clothing shipments from Canada, with no suspects yet identified.

Inspection of the Container from Canada

Senior Warrant Officer Justyna Pasieczyńska, press spokesperson for the National Revenue Administration, reported that on July 21, 2026, officers from the Pomeranian Customs and Tax Office in Gdynia selected a container from Canada for inspection.

According to the declaration, the container was supposed to contain clothing intended for a Polish company operating in the textile industry within the Masovian Voivodeship. The container was scanned with an X-ray system and then subjected to a detailed inspection.

Marihuana Hidden in 1,674 Packages

Upon opening the boxes, officers discovered used clothing concealing vacuum bags containing plant material. Field drug tests confirmed that marijuana was hidden across 1,674 packages.

As a result of the inspection, officers secured 945.466 kg of marijuana with a black-market value of approximately PLN 46 million.

Investigation and Search for Suspects

No one came forward to collect the container, and no arrests have been made so far in connection with the drug seizure.

The smuggling investigation is supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, with the objective of determining all circumstances of the incident and identifying the perpetrators.
