Two Men Arrested and Charged Over Assault on Off-Duty Prosecutor in Radom

Two residents of Radom aged 27 and 32 were arrested and charged after brutally beating an off-duty prosecutor who intervened to defend a woman and restore public order on July 26, 2026.

Arrest and Charges Filed

A prosecutor from one of Radom’s prosecution units was beaten by two young men on July 26, 2026. The incident occurred in connection with his intervention to restore public order and defend the honor and bodily integrity of a woman. The detained perpetrators, residents of Radom aged 32 and 27, have been formally charged.

Today, at the Radom-East District Prosecutor’s Office in Radom, two men—Konstanty B. (27) and Ernest G. (32)—were charged with jointly and in agreement participating on the night of July 26, 2026, in Radom in the assault of a victim who was acting in self-defense against an attack on the honor and bodily integrity of a woman and another man, protecting public safety and order while enjoying the legal protection afforded to public officials. The attackers struck him with fists to the head and torso, and then kicked the fallen victim with shod feet, exposing him to the direct danger of severe health impairment and causing significant head injuries, pursuant to Article 158 § 1 of the Penal Code in conjunction with Article 157 § 1, Article 11 § 2, Article 57a § 1, and Article 231b § 1 of the Penal Code.

The suspects were accused of acting publicly, without cause, and showing flagrant disregard for the legal order, a circumstance that increases criminal liability. Furthermore, Konstanty B. was charged with punching a man in the face and a woman in the back of the head publicly and without cause, demonstrating a flagrant disregard for the legal order under Article 217 § 1 in conjunction with Article 57a § 1 of the Penal Code. Additionally, during identification procedures by officers of the Radom Municipal Police Headquarters, this same suspect provided the personal data of another person as his own, directing criminal proceedings for a prior assault against that innocent individual, an offense punishable by up to 5 years of imprisonment under Article 235 of the Penal Code.

Course of the Incident

The incident took place in one of Radom’s venues. Both suspects were disrupting public order, harassing guests, and provoking fights. Consequently, Konstanty B. punched one of the men and a woman in the back of the head. Witnessing the aggressors’ behavior toward the attacked woman, an off-duty prosecutor present at the venue intervened, calling on the attackers to maintain order. Ernest G. blocked his path and began using physical violence. Shortly after, Konstanty B. joined the scuffle. Both men began striking the victim and ignored interventions by other patrons. The prosecutor was knocked to the floor, and both perpetrators continued to beat him by kicking the fallen man in the head. Police intervened at the scene, and the injured victim was transported to the hospital. Both perpetrators were detained shortly after the incident and were intoxicated.

Suspects’ Statements and Legal Measures

Ernest G., in the presence of his defense counsel, confessed to the charged offense. He explained that he was drunk and partially did not remember the circumstances of the event, expressing regret for his behavior.

Konstanty B., in the presence of his defense counsel, did not plead guilty to any of the charged offenses and refused to make a statement, stating that he remembers nothing from the date of the incident.

After completing procedural activities with the suspects, the prosecutor submitted a motion to the Radom District Court for a 3-month temporary arrest.

Both men face up to 10 years of imprisonment.

It should be emphasized that, pursuant to Article 231b § 1 of the Penal Code, any person who in self-defense repels an attack on any legally protected good of another, protecting safety or public order, enjoys the legal protection provided for public officials.
