Police in Radzymin arrested a 38-year-old Estonian truck driver transporting ice cream cakes on the S8 expressway after a breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level exceeding 2.6 per mille.

Intervention on the S8 Expressway

On July 27, 2026, on the S8 expressway near Stary Dybow, inspectors from the Road Transport Inspection stopped a Mercedes tractor-trailer with a refrigerated semi-trailer for a road check. During the procedure, officers smelled alcohol on the driver and a sobriety test confirmed he was intoxicated, prompting them to call a police patrol from the Radzymin Police Station.

International Transport of Ice Cream Cakes

It was established that the 38-year-old was performing international road transport of goods, transiting through Poland with a cargo of ice cream cakes from Estonia to the Czech Republic. The breathalyzer test showed over 2.6 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air, leading to his arrest and the confiscation of his driving license on the very same day.

Handing Over of the Vehicle and Legal Consequences

The driver’s employer traveled from Estonia to collect the vehicle combination, which was handed over along with the cargo after completing the necessary formalities, ensuring the transport of goods requiring special transport conditions under the ATP agreement was not disrupted. The 38-year-old will face court for driving a mechanical vehicle while intoxicated, an offense punishable by up to 3 years in prison, a driving ban, and other legal measures.
