“Cobra” Unit Recovers Stolen Toyota C-HR and Arrests Driver in Warsaw

Polish law enforcement agencies collaborated to intercept a stolen Toyota C-HR in Warsaw, arresting a 26-year-old suspect who drove despite a judicial driving ban.

Operation “Cobra” Intercepts Stolen Vehicle

This was another rapid, organized, and effective operation by the “Cobra” unit and officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation of Police (CBŚP), with support from the capital’s traffic department and the Police Prevention Unit in Warsaw. The action resulted in the recovery of a Toyota C-HR stolen in Germany, along with counterfeit license plates, and the apprehension of a 26-year-old male suspect for car burglary and theft. The man was driving despite a court-ordered ban on operating mechanical vehicles effective until 2028. The detained individual faced three charges, and the court approved the request from the Warsaw-Żoliborz District Prosecutor’s Office to place the suspect in temporary detention.

Intelligence and Surveillance Lead to Grota-Roweckiego Bridge Arrest

“Cobra” officers obtained operational intelligence regarding a white Toyota C-HR stolen in Germany and heading to Warsaw. Collaborating with officers from the Serious and Organized Crime Combating Department of the CBŚP Warsaw Board, they prepared an operation to apprehend the vehicle’s burglary and theft suspect, who was known to be using forged Polish license plates. Following surveillance, officers waited for the opportune moment to intervene, with backup from the capital’s traffic police and Warsaw Police Prevention Unit. The dynamic arrest occurred after midnight on the Grota-Roweckiego Bridge in Warsaw, capturing the 26-year-old man driving in defiance of his driving ban until 2028. The Toyota and fake plates were secured, and the suspect was placed in a police cell.

Charges and Three-Month Temporary Detention

Evidence gathered by officers from the Car Crime Combating Department enabled them to present the 26-year-old with three charges: vehicle burglary and theft, use of license plates unassigned to the vehicle, and driving in defiance of a court ban. The Warsaw-Żoliborz District Prosecutor’s Office petitioned the court for temporary detention, which the court granted, placing the suspect under temporary arrest for three months.
