A plug-in hybrid McLaren Artura valued at approximately 1.5 million PLN caught fire on the S5 expressway in Poland on Wednesday afternoon, causing temporary traffic disruptions.

TVP Reports Fire Incident on S5 Expressway

The fire was reported by TVP journalists who received the notification via the Twoje Info platform. The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 29, at around 3:00 PM. The vehicle caught fire on the S5 expressway between the Bydgoszcz-Miedzyń and Bydgoszcz-Błonie junctions, in the town of Pawłówek.

Fire Department Confirms No Casualties

The fire department confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the incident. Traffic heading toward Poznań and Toruń experienced disruptions due to the fire. Senior Brigadier Małgorzata Jarocka-Krzemkowska from the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Toruń stated that traffic was initially completely halted, but within a quarter of an hour, it was moving along a single lane. She added that the cause of the fire is unknown, but it was not the result of a collision.

Police Crackdown on Electric Bicycles

The burned vehicle is a sports McLaren Artura, whose value is estimated at around 1.5 million PLN, though the final price depends on the vehicle’s equipment version. The McLaren Artura is a plug-in hybrid supercar produced by the British manufacturer since 2021, reaching a top speed of 330 km/h, boasting 680 horsepower, and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds.
