Grandmother strikes 18-month-old granddaughter with car in Podkarpacie

An eighteen-month-old child was struck by a vehicle driven by her grandmother on a private property in Nowosielec on Thursday, July 30, and subsequently airlifted to the hospital.

Accident on a Private Property

The accident occurred on Thursday, July 30, in Nowosielec, located in the Przeworsk county within the Podkarpackie voivodeship. A-year-and-a-half-old child was struck on a private property by a vehicle driven by a female relative.

Senior Aspirant Rafał Puzio, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Nisko, confirmed the incident to Gazeta.pl, stating that the woman driving the vehicle at the moment of the event was a relative of the girl.

Investigation and Family Interviews

According to findings by the wPolsce24 station, the girl was struck by her grandmother, who was driving her daughter’s car. Police are currently establishing the exact circumstances of the incident.

To achieve this, law enforcement officers plan to question the household members as well as the woman, who reportedly suffered severe shock.

Airlifted to Hospital

An emergency helicopter from the Polish Medical Air Rescue (LPR) was dispatched to the scene. The child was transported by the helicopter to a hospital in Rzeszów.

The current condition of the girl remains unknown. The rescue operation concluded before 5:00 PM.
