Russian Missile Fall in Lublin Voivodeship: Prosecutors Outline Early Investigation Steps

Following the impact of a Russian missile in Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship, prosecutors detailed their initial investigative steps, including drone mapping, debris recovery, and a three-square-kilometer ground search.

Prosecution Briefing on Initial Investigation Steps

A prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin reported at a Friday, July 31 press conference that investigators initially mapped the impact site using an observation drone before conducting a detailed inspection.

Marcin Kozak, spokesperson for the Lublin prosecutor’s office, stated that they discovered and systematically secured numerous components of the aerial vehicle—as it was treated initially—within and directly around the explosion crater, including propulsion and electronic elements.

Soil Sampling and Territorial Defense Search Operations

Investigators also plan to examine soil samples from the scene to determine what explosive materials were contained within the missile.

Subsequently, soldiers from the Territorial Defense Forces began searching the area within a three-square-kilometer radius of the crater, with operations concluding at approximately 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 30.
