The Incident at Aquapark Fala
The incident occurred on July 27 at the Aquapark Fala in Łódź. Junior Inspector Kamila Sowińska, press officer for the Łódź police commander, stated at the time that police received a report indicating the boy had been underwater for several minutes. The child was transported in critical condition to the intensive care unit of the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital Research Institute in Łódź.
Six Minutes on the Pool Floor and Procedural Experiment
On Friday, July 31, “Fakt” reported, citing Łódź prosecutor’s spokesperson Paweł Jasiak, that the child allegedly lay at the bottom of the pool for six minutes before being pulled from the water by an aquapark guest. A procedural experiment has been scheduled in the case. The prosecutor added that the experiment will take place in September, outside of aquapark opening hours, involving a water rescue expert to recreate the conditions of the incident.
Current Medical Condition
The seven-year-old remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit under a pharmacological coma. Jakub Wojtczak of the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital in Łódź stated in an interview with the daily newspaper that doctors are doing everything possible to save him, but his condition remains extremely critical.
Aquapark Statement and Investigation
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene after the boy was pulled from the water and performed resuscitation for about half an hour. In a statement quoted by portals including “Fakt,” the aquapark confirmed that the incident occurred during a holiday swimming course organized by an external entity. The facility emphasized that the course was organized by the Water Rescue, Swimming School and Water Sports company, whose staff supervised the group, and noted that it is a certified entity operating for years. The facility secured monitoring footage and remains at the disposal of relevant authorities, with the case being handled by the Łódź-Polesie District Prosecutor’s Office.
