Suspicious Roadside Drug Deal Leads to Seizure of Nearly Half a Kilogram of Narcotics and the Arrest of a 29-Year-Old

Police in Ciepielów arrested three men following a suspicious roadside transaction in Chotcza, subsequently seizing nearly half a kilogram of mephedrone and marijuana from a 29-year-old suspect.

Suspicious Roadside Transaction in Chotcza

On Monday, July 27, police officers from the Ciepielów Police Station during a patrol in the Chotcza commune noticed two vehicles parked on the roadside. The behavior of the men near them aroused the officers’ suspicions, who observed money and a small package being passed between the individuals.

During the check, a 34-year-old resident of the Zwoleń poviat admitted to possessing mephedrone, while an accompanying 24-year-old man witnessed the event. Meanwhile, a 29-year-old resident of the Lipsko poviat denied possessing or selling drugs, and all three men were detained and placed in police custody.

Drug Seizures at the 29-Year-Old’s Residence and Vehicle

Further operations conducted by criminal department officers from the Lipsko County Police Headquarters led to the discovery of additional drugs. During a search of the living quarters belonging to the 29-year-old, officers secured two plastic bags with mephedrone and two bags with marijuana.

In his car, officers found cigarettes without Polish excise duty stamps, plastic bags with small amounts of marijuana and amphetamine, an electronic scale, a herb grinder, and cash. In total, nearly half a kilogram of drugs was secured from the 29-year-old Lipsko poviat resident.

Driving Under the Influence and Charges Filed

Furthermore, an initial test showed that the 29-year-old was driving under the influence of intoxicants, and blood was drawn for laboratory testing to determine if he was under the influence of drugs while driving.

After gathering evidence and questioning the detainees, police charged the 34-year-old with drug possession, while the 29-year-old faced charges of selling and possessing a significant amount of drugs.

Court Decision and Potential Penalties

At the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lipsko, the court decided to apply a preventive measure of temporary arrest for a period of three months against the 29-year-old resident of the Lipsko poviat.

He faces up to 10 years of imprisonment for the committed crimes.
