Two Faces of August Weather
The first weekend of August will showcase two completely different faces of the weather. On Saturday, residents of many regions will contend with extreme heat and violent thunderstorms, while Sunday will bring a distinct cooling and calmer conditions. The greatest change will be felt by residents of the northern and central parts of the country.
Saturday Forecast: 35-Degree Heat and Severe Storms
Saturday is shaping up to be very dynamic. An atmospheric front will move over Poland, bringing numerous thunderstorms. The highest temperature will occur in the southeastern part of the country, where thermometers will show up to 35 degrees Celsius. Such heat will be recorded, among other places, in Rzesz贸w. In Krak贸w, 34 degrees are forecast, and in Warsaw and Lublin, 33 degrees each.
Heavy Rains, Hail and 90 km/h Winds
The thunderstorms will be accompanied by intense rainfall, hail in places, and strong winds. In some regions, up to 50 millimeters of rain may fall. The strongest wind gusts will reach around 90 kilometers per hour, especially in the western and southwestern parts of the country.
Cooler Air Reaches the Coast
Residents of Pomerania and the western part of the coast will feel the inflow of cooler air. Right by the sea, temperatures locally will be around 20 degrees Celsius, accompanied by passing rain showers and thunderstorms. In Gda艅sk, 20 degrees are forecast, in Koszalin 22 degrees, and in Szczecin 23 degrees Celsius. Warmia and Mazury will also be cooler than central and southern Poland. Despite the lower temperatures, thunderstorms with hail and stronger wind gusts may still occur there in places.
Sunday Forecast: Cooling Spreads Across Almost All of Poland
On Sunday, the weather situation will change rapidly. A high-pressure system will build over Poland, ensuring calmer conditions in most regions. In many places, temperatures will drop by even a few degrees compared to Saturday. In the north of the country, thermometers will show from 21 to 24 degrees Celsius, and in central Poland from 23 to 28 degrees. It will be warmest in the southeastern part of the country, with 32 degrees forecast in Rzesz贸w and 30 degrees Celsius in Krak贸w. Only in the far southern regions may passing rain showers and thunderstorms appear in places.
