Man Dies Near Old Town Despite Hour-Long Resuscitation Attempt

A man collapsed and suffered cardiac arrest near the Old Town around 5:30 PM, and despite an hour-long rescue effort by bystanders, police, and paramedics, he could not be saved.

Collapse and Rescue Efforts Near the Old Town

Around 5:30 PM in the Old Town, approximately 200 meters from the market square, a man collapsed. Shortly after, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Despite a rescue operation lasting over an hour, his life could not be saved.

Bystanders and police officers rushed to help the man. Subsequently, medical rescue workers took over the operations and initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The fight to save the victim’s life lasted for more than an hour.

Cessation of Resuscitation and Initial Findings

The conducted procedures did not lead to the restoration of vital functions. Rescuers abandoned further resuscitation and pronounced the man dead.

The deceased was approximately 50 to 60 years old. According to preliminary information, he was most likely experiencing homelessness and had previously consumed alcohol. His identity has not yet been established.

Police Investigation and Forensic Examination

At the scene, police officers carried out further procedures under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office. The man’s body was secured and transported to the department of forensic medicine. Examinations are intended to determine the exact cause of his death.
