Kaczyński Angered by Morawiecki Over Abortion and COVID Decisions

PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński has sharply condemned former Prime Minister Mateusza Morawiecki, claiming his recent remarks prove that his true political enemies are PiS and Kaczyński himself.

– Kaczyński got angry. Because of this abortion and COVID – said a person from the PiS leader’s entourage in an interview with “Newsweek”. The politician reportedly reacted this way after reading excerpts of Mateusz Morawiecki’s interview on the Rymanowski Live program.

The head of Rozwój Plus stated that Kaczyński was a supporter of mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations and led to the Constitutional Tribunal’s ruling on the ban on abortion due to severe and irreversible fetal defects in order to appease the anger of party conservatives after the failed push for the “animal welfare bill” (“piątka dla zwierząt”). According to “Newsweek”, previously the “animal welfare bill” was opposed by a group of the most conservative PiS MPs and Catholic media such as Radio Maryja.

– The animal welfare bill was a trigger, a catalyst that caused the group of so-called conservatives in our party to jump at the chairman’s throat and beg for everything, together with Solidarna Polska at the time, to do everything to cover up these first poll drops and to force the ruling on abortion issues – said Morawiecki at Bogdan Rymanowski’s program.

Kaczyński referred to Morawiecki’s statements in a Tuesday post. According to the PiS leader, they show that “Mateusz Morawiecki’s enemy is not Tusk, but him and Law and Justice.”

“The former prime minister shifts responsibility for the decisions made onto others, often contrary to the truth… Since he disagreed with them so much, one has to ask: why didn’t he distance himself from these decisions publicly or even resign from the office of prime minister?” – asked Kaczyński.

The PiS leader also suggested that Morawiecki not only did not withdraw from the party, but reportedly assured members of the Rozwój Plus association that they would be on the joint PiS electoral list. “From time to time I hear that members of the breakaway association were assured by Mateusz Morawiecki that the list will be joint anyway… After such statements by their leader, it is extremely hard to believe in this” – wrote Kaczyński.

Finally, the PiS leader stated that Morawiecki “is in some strange state.” The politician also got this impression during conversations held with him. “God willing, I am wrong” – wrote Kaczyński.
