Three Puppies Mutilated Near Ciechanów as Police Search for Perpetrator

An animal shelter in Pawłowo reports that three five-week-old puppies were found with severely mutilated and infected ears near Ciechanów, prompting an immediate police investigation.

Shelter Discovers Mutilated Puppies

“Someone did them unimaginable harm. Figo and Figa had their ears brutally slashed, while Fibi’s ears were cut off almost completely. The wounds were already infected,” reported the Animal Shelter in Pawłowo regarding the five-week-old puppies found in Ciechanów.

The animals underwent ear flap reconstruction surgery at a clinic. As explained, the procedures “were meant not only to improve the appearance of the ears, but above all to enable their proper functioning in the future.” The dogs have returned to the shelter and are in quarantine. “When the treatment is over, we will begin looking for responsible, loving homes for them,” it was announced.

Veterinary Clinic Details the Brutality

Ciechanów: Police are searching for the perpetrator of the animal mutilation.

“Can you imagine that someone tried to cut the ears off these three puppies? In the case of one, they succeeded, this is an absolute massacre. The dogs are mutilated. A drama,” commented a veterinarian from the Centaur Veterinary Center, which performed the procedures, in a video published on social media.

Police Launch Investigation

Following media publications about the mutilation of the three puppies, officers immediately took steps to clarify all circumstances of the incident, announced senior commissioner Jolanta Bym from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Ciechanów on Wednesday.

As the officer explained, the ongoing actions “are aimed at determining the place, time, and perpetrator of this act.” She also noted that no report on the matter had been filed previously.

Legal Penalties for Animal Abuse

The Ciechanów Poviat Police Headquarters reminds that under the Animal Protection Act, the crime of animal abuse is punishable by up to three years of imprisonment, whereas if the perpetrator acts with particular cruelty, they are subject to a penalty of deprivation of liberty from three months to five years.
