PiS MP Slams Court Ruling on Party Subsidies as “Russian Standards” in Clash with Finance Minister

Following a supreme administrative court decision dismissing PiS appeals regarding state subsidies, Law and Justice MP Radosław Fogiel sharply criticized Finance Minister Andrzej Domański’s celebratory remarks.

NSA Dismisses Appeals

On Wednesday, August 5, the Supreme Administrative Court dismissed the cassation complaints concerning grants and subsidies for Law and Justice. Finance Minister Andrzej Domański commented on the NSA ruling the same day.

“The crushing court ruling for PiS regarding subsidies and grants is upheld! Cassation dismissed. No doubts. Another PiS lie exposed,” the politician wrote on the platform X.

Fogiel Responds to Domański

PiS MP Radosław Fogiel commented on the minister’s post. “Man, hold your emotions! Excitement like a teenager before a first date. And what does this ‘crushing verdict’ concern? A complaint about the finance minister’s inaction. The fact that those coming to his rescue question the Supreme Court’s decision does not change the essence of the matter: illegally depriving the main opposition party of its due subsidy. Russian standards,” evaluated the politician.

Subsidies for PiS

The matter is related to the State Electoral Commission’s rejection of the financial report of the PiS Electoral Committee. The reason was irregularities in the financing of the election campaign. Writing about “inaction,” Radosław Fogiel was most likely referring to the dispute concerning the third installment of the subsidy for 2024.

The SEC’s decision to reject the financial report resulted in a reduction of the subsidy for PiS from PLN 26 million to over PLN 15 million annually, as we wrote in Gazeta.pl. The Ministry of Finance calculated at the time that, due to the reduced subsidy, PiS was not entitled to the third installment for 2024.

Legal Battle Over Subsidies

PiS then filed a complaint with the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw regarding the minister’s inaction mentioned by the politician. The party also appealed the SEC resolution to the Supreme Court. It was examined by the Chamber of Control Extraordinary and Public Affairs, whose status was questioned, among others, by the Court of Justice of the European Union due to doubts regarding its independence.

The Chamber granted the PiS complaint in December 2024, and the Provincial Administrative Court dismissed the party’s complaint in June 2025. According to the Provincial Administrative Court, the party was not entitled to further funds for disbursement under the third installment of the subsidy.
