End of Mockery for Radom Airport? Absolute Record Broken as Thousands Gain Passengers

Warsaw-Radom Airport has achieved its best month in history, recording a 43 percent increase in travelers and a record-breaking day with thousands of passengers.

For years, Warsaw-Radom Airport was the subject of numerous mockeries and internet jokes claiming that no one flies from it. The latest announcement from Polish Airports (PPL) sheds a completely new light on the situation of the port. The past month turned out to be the best in the entire history of the airport, bringing not only a 43-percent increase in the number of handled travelers, but also a record day with thousands of passengers on board aircraft.

Last month, Warsaw-Radom Airport handled 25,931 travelers, which means a 43-percent increase compared to July of the previous year. This is also the best monthly result in the history of the port, Polish Airports (PPL) reported on Thursday.

The previous record, set three years ago, was lower by nearly 3 thousand passengers. As PPL noted in its monthly report, apart from the record month, Radom airport also has a record day behind it.

On July 27, 2,335 people used the port’s offer. This result consisted of 15 flight operations: 8 charter, 5 scheduled, and 2 technical (repositionings). On that day, travelers flew on routes to and from Larnaca, Rome, Antalya, and Preveza, among others, the company’s press office reported.

Role of Radom and Expansion Plans

Commenting on the results of the Radom airport, PPL Management Board member for financial and commercial affairs Marcin Danił said that they confirm that in the summer season it fulfills its function well.

We hope that it will naturally relieve Chopin Airport during its modernization and more and more airlines and tour operators will use this port, Danił noted.

Warsaw-Radom Airport was opened after expansion in April 2023. Currently, from Radom you can fly to Larnaca, Antalya, Hurghada, Rome, and Preveza, among others. New additions in the summer season are flights operated by Wizz Air to the capital of Albania, Tirana, and to Burgas in Bulgaria.

Strategy to 2030 and Revenue Diversification

According to data from the Civil Aviation Office (ULC), the Radom port recorded declines in the number of served passengers in 2025 compared to 2024 (by 15.3 percent) and 2023 (by 9 percent).

In February, PPL presented a new strategy for Warsaw-Radom Airport until 2030. It assumes a hybrid model: passenger activity (charters and low-cost airlines) as well as the development of cargo, MRO (including maintenance and repairs), General Aviation (air traffic excluding scheduled and military flights), and training. The main goal is revenue diversification, as the airport’s loss (PLN 30 million in 2023, PLN 38 million in 2024, over PLN 40 million in 2025) is expected to exceed PLN 50 million this year. In 2025, the airport served 95,000 people, and this year PPL forecasts an increase to about 120,000.
