Falling Tree Branch Injures Pilgrims in Świętokrzyskie Amid Severe Storms

A 45-person pilgrimage from Wiślica to Częstochowa was struck by a falling tree branch on Thursday afternoon, resulting in three injuries and hospitalizations.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, around 3:00 PM. According to junior aspirant Piotr Pazera from the County Police Headquarters in Busko, police received a report regarding an accident involving a 45-person group of pilgrims traveling from Wiślica toward Częstochowa.

A gust of a strong gale broke a tree, a fragment of which fell onto several people on the road.

Medical Assistance and Hospitalizations

First aid was provided to the injured by paramedics from an ambulance accompanying the pilgrims along the route. Junior Brigadier Marcin Wójcik, deputy head of the State Fire Service in Busko-Zdrój, stated via TVP Info that two people were taken to the hospital, while a third person with abrasions was treated on the spot.

The individuals taken to the hospital were a 24-year-old and a 54-year-old woman. After completing the intervention, firefighters removed the branch blocking the road, allowing the pilgrims to continue their journey.

Severe Storms Across Greater Poland Over the Weekend

A powerful storm swept through Greater Poland last weekend. Polish Storm Chasers reported on Facebook that serious wind damage occurred, most notably in parts of Krotoszyn and Pleszew counties, where strong winds tore off roofs of residential and farm buildings, and 2-3 cm hail was recorded near Kalisz.

Firefighters in Greater Poland received over 100 reports, with nearly 20 concerning torn or damaged roofs, primarily in Pleszew and Krotoszyn counties. Reports also involved broken trees and downed power lines, with frequent interventions in Kalisz, Ostrów, Krotoszyn, and Konin counties.

Building Damage in Bógwidze

According to the Poznań branch of TVP3, the wind destroyed two buildings in the town of Bógwidze in Pleszew county: it tore off the roof covering of a farm building and blew out the windows of a multi-family building.
