Who is the rapper who performed before Nawrocki? Eldo is a Muslim and a nationalist

During a Warsaw ceremony on Thursday, August 6, President Karol Nawrocki praised rapper Eldo, whose background as a Muslim convert and nationalist has drawn significant public attention.

Political Elite and the Voice of Ordinary People

– For 35 years, political elites have accustomed us to the fact that the voices of ordinary people often did not reach the Palace or the Sejm – stated Karol Nawrocki during a ceremony organized on Thursday, August 6, in Warsaw.

Karol Nawrocki: Many creators sing out the pain of Poles. – Sometimes you have to sing it out, talk about it in a musical, artistic, alternative reality. And so many creators of hip-hop, alternative music often sing out the heartache, soul pain of many Polish women and Poles. I too, as an ordinary boy, carried it for many years. Thank you, Eldo, for your performance – said the president.

Eldo Converted to Islam as a Teenager

“Eldo” is the artistic pseudonym of Leszek Kaźmierczak. The rapper was born in 1979 in Warsaw. For many years he was a member of the Grammatik group and has also recorded several solo albums. Before turning 18, Eldo converted to Islam.

– Actually before that, because already as a 16-17-year-old I was interested in Islam, I couldn’t buy the Quran in Polish anywhere, this translation by Prof. Bielawski published by PIW, so I spent hours in the library on Koszykowa and copied successive suras into a notebook. One day I dropped into Prus’s bookstore and found the Quran there. I bought it and read it from cover to cover. I began practicing some Muslim behaviors even before converting to Islam – said Eldo in a 2015 interview with “Duży Format”.

The Rapper’s National Views

Leszek Kaźmierczak identifies with the national ideology. In an interview with “Duży Format”, he stated that “national, patriotic movements have always been connected with religion”. In 2010, the rapper participated in a debate on the ideals of “Solidarity”, organized by the editorial board of “Polityka Narodowa” and the All-Polish Youth.

In November of last year, Eldo took part in the seminar “Who needs Poland? Who does Poland need?”, co-organized by the Chancellery of the President. Karol Nawrocki also participated in the event.
