Onet and Interia report that Hołownia could potentially replace Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz as Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, or take over the Ministry of Culture, which is currently led by Poland 2050 politician Marta Cienkowska. Both outlets also noted Hołownia’s desire to secure the position of deputy prime minister in addition to a portfolio.

Battle for Control of Poland 2050 Parliamentary Club

The Deputy Marshal of the Sejm is reportedly seeking allies within Poland 2050 to seize control of the party’s parliamentary club. Media outlets emphasize that this move is intended to weaken the position of Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, who serves as the party’s leader.

One minister told Interia that Pełczyńska-Nałęcz had long been viewed as an external element in the government whom the Prime Minister tolerated because she theoretically commanded over a dozen MPs. Hołownia declined to comment on the reports, telling Interia only that he is currently on vacation and that nothing is likely to happen before the end of the month.

Gazeta.pl previously reported that Szymon Hołownia resigned from his leadership role in Poland 2050 in June, having assumed the position of deputy chairman in February following Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz’s victory as party leader. Months prior, the party experienced a split when Climate and Environment Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska founded the Center Union party and left Poland 2050 alongside a group of parliamentarians after losing the leadership election.
