Over an Hour of CPR Fails to Save Man on Vistula River Beach

Despite a massive emergency response involving paramedics, firefighters, and a medical helicopter, a man in his forties died following cardiac arrest on a Vistula River beach on August 6.

Emergency Response on the Vistula River

The struggle to save the life of a man who lost his vital functions on Thursday, August 6, at a beach along the Vistula River near Wyspa Rembezy lasted for over an hour. Medical rescuers, firefighters, WOPR lifeguards, and a Medical Air Rescue helicopter were dispatched to the scene, though prolonged resuscitation failed to save the approximately 40-year-old man.

The incident occurred at around 8:00 PM on the Vistula River beach in the Wyspa Rembezy area, where the man experienced sudden cardiac arrest. Following the emergency call, a large-scale rescue operation was immediately launched.

Deployment of Rescue Units and Logistics

Fire department units from the Piaseczno County were sent to the location, arriving with boats and UTV vehicles suited for the terrain’s specific access challenges. WOPR lifeguards and an Emergency Medical Team also participated in the operation.

Firefighters from Otwock were initially dispatched as well, but once the exact location was confirmed, it was determined that the incident site fell within Piaseczno County.

Helicopter Dispatch and Unsuccessful Resuscitation

Due to the critical condition of the man, the crew of the Ratownik 12 Medical Air Rescue helicopter was also called to the scene.

Upon reaching the victim, rescuers initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation, with efforts to restore his vital functions lasting for over an hour.

Despite the efforts of all rescue teams, it was impossible to revive the approximately 40-year-old man, and the operation concluded with the pronouncement of his death.
