Poles Name Jolanta Kwaśniewska the Best First Lady Since 1989

A recent United Surveys by IBRiS poll reveals that over 60 percent of Poles consider Jolanta Kwaśniewska the best first lady since 1989, far outpacing her successors.

According to the latest United Surveys by IBRiS poll for Wirtualna Polski, over half of Poles (60.5 percent) consider Jolanta Kwaśniewska the best first lady after 1989. Maria Kaczyńska took second place with 11.3 percent support, and Marta Nawrocka closed the podium with 8.4 percent. Agata Kornhauser-Duda (2.4 percent) and Danuta Wałęsa (1.8 percent) took the subsequent spots. Anna Komorowska did not receive a single vote, and 6 percent of respondents chose the “none of them” option.

Kwaśniewska Popular Among Voters Across the Political Spectrum

What further strengthens Kwaśniewska’s position is that she wins sympathy rankings regardless of the respondents’ political views. Among voters of the ruling camp, as many as 88 percent of surveyed individuals point to her. Maria Kaczyńska gathered 7 percent of the votes in this group.

Kwaśniewska also occupies first place among opposition voters (PiS, Razem, and both Confederation parties) with a score of 41 percent, ahead of Maria Kaczyńska (20 percent) and Marta Nawrocka (18 percent).

Support within the Confederation Electorate

Within the Confederation electorate itself, Aleksander Kwaśniewska’s wife gained 42 percent support. Second place in this group was shared ex aequo by Marta Nawrocka and the “none of them” response (18 percent of indications each).

The sympathy for Kwaśniewska is a mirror reflection of how much support her husband continues to enjoy. According to a study conducted by the same polling institute, nearly half of the respondents (44.7 percent) recognize Aleksander Kwaśniewski as the best president of Poland after 1989, while Lech Kaczyńska placed second with over 14 percent.

Just like in the case of his wife, voters of practically all parties appreciate him. Among supporters of the current ruling camp’s party, 76 percent backed him, while in the electorate of opposition formations, Lech Kaczyńska and Karol Nawrocki found themselves in first place ex aequo alongside Kwaśniewski (25 percent of indications each). Andrzej Duda obtained a surprisingly low result, as 2 percent of respondents from this group chose him. Voters of both Confederation parties placed Kwaśniewski and Nawrocki in first place (22 percent).
