Court Rules on 16-Year-Old Brothers After Stabbing Attack in Goleniów

A court in Goleniów has decided the fate of two 16-year-old brothers who attacked a 17-year-old peer with a sharp tool last Saturday, sending both the victim and one suspect to the hospital.

The Incident on Kolejowa Street

The incident occurred last Saturday, August 8, on Kolejowa Street in Goleniów, located in the western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. At that time, 16-year-old twin brothers allegedly attacked a 17-year-old boy using a sharp tool, most likely a knife.

Hospitalization of Victim and Suspect

The victim, bearing signs of a beating and stab wounds, was transported by ambulance to the emergency department of a Szczecin hospital. Hospital spokesperson Katarzyna Stróżyk informed PAP that the patient’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he is currently in the surgery ward with doctors describing his condition as good. On the day of the incident, medical assistance at the emergency department was also required by one of the suspect brothers, who sustained cut wounds to his hand. The following day, both 16-year-olds were transferred to a Police Juvenile Shelter before being placed at the disposal of the court.

Court Decision and Disciplinary Measures

The Family and Juvenile Division of the District Court in Goleniów decided to apply disciplinary measures against the 16-year-olds during a closed hearing attended by the teenagers’ mother. According to Judge Aneta Iglewska-Wilczyńska, president of the Goleniów court, one of the perpetrators will spend three months in a juvenile detention center, while the court applied a stricter measure of a three-month stay in a District Correctional Facility for the other. Authorities and the justice system have not yet disclosed the motives behind the attack.
