Siemoniak Slams Mentzen Over Military Parade Critique, Dismisses Morawiecki’s New Project

Cabinet minister Tomasz Siemoniak sharply criticized Sławomir Mentzen on Monday for mocking military parade preparations as amateurish, while also dismissing Mateusz Morawiecki’s new parliamentary club as politically stale.

Mentzen Mocks Military Parades on X

Confederation leader Sławomir Mentzen wrote on X on Monday, August 10, that General Kukuła confirmed the army’s readiness for the August 15 parade following a dress rehearsal. Mentzen sarcastically praised the military’s parade skills and suggested they should instead practice mobilizing a brigade, arguing that more vital matters deserved rehearsal.

Siemoniak Dismisses Mentzen’s Ideas

Appearing on Polsat News’ “Gość Wydarzeń” on Monday, special services coordinator minister Tomasz Siemoniak commented on Mentzen’s proposal. He stated that such ideas about mobilizing a single brigade smack of amateurism and emphasized that military professionals should decide how the army prepares for war.

Routine Report on Parade Readiness

Siemoniak added that the report by General Wiesław Kukuła, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, regarding readiness for the Armed Forces Day parade was routine in nature. When host Marek Tejchman asked if the army is also ready for war, the minister stressed that it must always be ready, which is why the public maintains and funds the military through taxes.

Morawiecki Lacks Freshness in Politics

Addressing the formation of the “Rozwój Plus” parliamentary club, Siemoniak evaluated that Mateusz Morawiecki’s initiative lacks significant potential. He stated that Morawiecki brings no freshness or new quality to Polish politics, describing him as a well-known figure who changes views constantly and remains unappealing to voters.

No Fear of Rebranded Political Projects

Siemoniak noted that new projects often emerge before elections, citing the historical origins of Civic Platform and PiS, but stressed the need for genuinely new initiatives rather than rebranded old ones. He stated he does not fear Morawiecki due to a lack of demand for such actions, viewing him as a compromised politician from the perspective of Civic Coalition voters.
