Wałęsa Refuses to Comment on Nawrocki
Speaking on August 4 during an interview with Radio Gdańsk, Lech Wałęsa dismissed Karol Nawrocki, calling him a disgrace and refusing to answer questions about him to avoid entering into details or making excuses. He stated that he would recognize Nawrocki as president only if the votes had been recounted, concluding that because this was not done, it constitutes a fraud.
Kempa Says Wałęsa Reacts Too Emotionally
Beata Kempa, an advisor to Karol Nawrocki, stated in an interview with “Fakt” that President Wałęsa reacts too emotionally to criticism, which is sometimes unfortunately justified. She added that while the word “sorry” is good and proven, it is difficult for her to forgive the frequent contempt and superiority shown toward others simply because they are competitors.
Disappointment Over a Former Legend
Kempa emphasized that her attitude toward Wałęsa used to be more positive, viewing him as a legend before sad information emerged, and even convincing hardliners to vote for him. However, she remarked that the legend has seemingly squandered its standing on its own terms, creating a sad picture.
Nawrocki Reaffirms Role as the People’s Voice
On August 6 in Warsaw, ceremonies were held to mark the anniversary of Karol Nawrocki’s swearing-in as president. Addressing the participants, Nawrocki stated that the public decided he should be their voice in the Presidential Palace, a duty he has performed continuously for a year.
Power Belongs to the Citizens
President Nawrocki appealed to the audience by stating that power is for the citizens and not the citizens for the power, urging them to evaluate his work. He declared that he will never step off the path he entered during the electoral campaign and will remain solely their voice.
