Late-night crash in 艢r贸dmie艣cie
Around 11 PM in Aleje Ujazdowskich in the 艢r贸dmie艣cie district, a dangerous traffic incident occurred. The driver of a passenger Omoda struck parked cars and then mowed down cast-iron bollards separating the roadway from the sidewalk.
Loss of control and extensive damage
Preliminary findings indicate that the 45-year-old Omoda driver lost control of the vehicle on a straight stretch of road and hit a parked Audi. Detached parts also damaged a car parked in front of the Audi. The Omoda then slid along the road, shearing off iron bollards separating the road from the sidewalk. The impact was so severe that the rear axle was torn off the vehicle.
Driver flees and is swiftly detained
Three fire brigades and the police were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, witnesses informed the emergency services that the driver had fled the scene, reportedly getting into another vehicle that subsequently drove away. Police quickly established the driver’s identity and detained him. He turned out to be a 45-year-old Polish citizen.
Active driving ban and sobriety
The man had an active six-month driving ban and revoked driving privileges. A breathalyzer test showed that he was sober. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Two lanes heading towards Plac Trzech Krzy偶y were blocked.
Resident safety concerns
As one of the residents noted, they had repeatedly reported this location as dangerous because drivers frequently travel at excessive speeds.
