Morawiecki Accuses Civic Platform of Exploiting Flood Victims and Demands Accountability

Former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki launched a sharp attack against Civic Platform officials, accusing them of embezzling flood relief funds meant for disaster-stricken regions.

Launch of the Reporting Platform

Development Plus politicians launched the website imsiepowodzi.pl, enabling citizens to anonymously report irregularities concerning flood relief efforts.

Mateusz Morawiecki assured on X that every credible signal will be checked and matters requiring institutional reaction will not be swept under the rug.

Accusations Against Civic Platform Officials

Mateusz Morawiecki stated that PO activists are fattening themselves on human misfortune while people in Stronie Slaskie and Ladek-Zdroj still live in appalling conditions waiting for support.

He added that party elites received millions for cracked tiles or washed joints, calling it a disgrace and pathology that must be stopped by draining the swamp.

Allegations of Financial Misconduct

Morawiecki stated during a press conference in Jelenia Gora that Civic Platform people are simply robbing flood victims.

He emphasized that this practice took place while hundreds of thousands of people suffered severe harm in Lower Silesia and the Opole region, and someone made money off that tragedy.

CBA Investigation Into Flood Aid

Gazeta.pl reported that the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau is auditing procedures regarding support for entrepreneurs affected by the 2024 floods.

The CBA is investigating a case where 4.5 million PLN in flood relief from the Karkonosze Agency for Regional Development went to three entities in one area, despite four independent sources ruling out flood damage.

The money went to companies linked to the agency’s vice-president and KO activist Anna Konieczynska.

Response from Coalition Authorities

Deputy Minister of Development and Technology and head of the Lower Silesian structures of the Civic Coalition, Michal Jaros, stated that the vice-president was suspended from the party some time ago and faces a party court ruling within days.
