Deputy Foreign Minister Rules Out KO-Konfederacja Coalition While Noting “Sensible People” Within the Party

Deputy Foreign Minister Adam Szłapka’s political ally Marcin Bosacki has ruled out any future coalition between Civic Coalition and Konfederacja, despite acknowledging that some individual members possess sensible views.

Bosacki Rules Out Coalition with Konfederacja

Bosacki emphasized on Radio ZET that he considers the majority of Konfederacja’s actions to be absolutely harmful to Poland, stating he would not want to govern with them and sees no possibility of it happening.

Although he refused to name specific individuals to avoid harming them, Bosacki noted that there are Konfederacja politicians with whom he can normally converse in the parliamentary lobbies on topics concerning Poland, the economy, or foreign policy.

Electoral Calculations and Relations with PSL

Asked if he could discuss the same topics with PSL politicians, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that it is over a year before elections and list formation, making final electoral forecasts premature.

Emphasizing that much can change in Polish politics over the next 12 months, the KO politician added that he believes they are governing well with PSL and that running separately three years ago yielded a better result.

New Poll Shows KO Lead and Tusk Government Ratings

A new United Surveys poll for Wirtualna Polski indicates that if Sejm elections were held last Sunday, Civic Coalition would win with 28.7 percent of the vote, followed by Law and Justice at 17.8 percent and Konfederacja at 10.6 percent.

Another survey by United Surveys for Wirtualna Polski shows that 58 percent of Poles critically evaluate the current coalition government led by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, while 35.9 percent view it positively and 6.1 percent have no opinion.
