Zelenskyy Reveals Intelligence Findings on Russian Mobilization and Putin’s War Priorities

In his Tuesday evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed intelligence findings detailing Russia’s upcoming autumn mobilization plans following parliamentary elections.

Political Manipulation and Election Exclusion

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in his Tuesday evening address on August 11 that Russian leader Vladimir Putin resorted to another blatant political manipulation. Zelenskyy noted that Putin feared allowing even a single party that spoke somewhat about the need for peace to participate in the elections.

Zelenskyy referred to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Russia scheduled for September and the decision of the Russian Supreme Court to exclude the liberal Yabloko party from participating. The Ukrainian politician emphasized that Putin’s priorities are as clear as day.

Plans for Rapid Mobilization

Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a report was presented by Oleh Ivashchenko, head of the Defense Intelligence, regarding Russia’s preparations for mobilization. Everything is confirmed by internal Russian documents, with preparations underway for the autumn, immediately following the imitation of parliamentary elections.

Putin’s plan is not particularly complicated, as he wants to create the impression that Russians supposedly support the war, according to Zelenskyy. Every party that continues to run is, in one way or another, opposed to peace. Afterwards, following the so-called elections, Putin plans another rapid mobilization of several hundred thousand Russians by the end of the year, and next year just as many, supplementing the conscription they attempt to carry out through contract enlistment.

Occupying Forces Casualties

Zelenskyy stated that the Russian contingent in Ukraine loses at least 30,000 soldiers every month, of whom 60 percent are killed. The total size of the occupying army on Ukrainian territory is gradually decreasing thanks to active operations, and above all, the use of drones.

Putin now believes that additional mobilization and the involvement of North Korean troops will allow him to prolong the war and increase Russian assault activity, Zelenskyy added. Ukraine is preparing its own active operations to make it as difficult as possible for Russia to realize such plans, and the president has entrusted relevant tasks to intelligence agencies and special services without revealing details.

Peace Negotiations and Proposals

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also addressed the issue of peace negotiations, noting that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured in recent days that the US intends to check whether it is possible to resume talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Zelenskyy reported that he received a report from the negotiating team on Tuesday evening and that proposals have been handed over to the American side. America can help strengthen Ukraine’s defense, primarily through air defense, and can exert pressure on Russia to change its plans from prolonging the war to preparing for its conclusion.
