International experts, business practitioners, and scientists will gather in Warsaw this October for the Polish Oil and Gas Congress to discuss the stabilization of the energy system before the nuclear era.

Energy is the Key to Security and Development

Experts will discuss the role of oil and gas in stabilizing the energy system, economy, and region before the nuclear era during the Polish Oil and Gas Congress held in October in Warsaw.

The event, organized by ORLEN under the slogan “Powering the future,” will bring together international experts and analysts, business practitioners, and representatives of science and administration. They will discuss, among other things, the importance of oil and gas in the energy transition, securing regional access to raw material deposits, and the competencies that Polish enterprises can gain through participation in the global oil and gas market. This is an important discussion for the entire economy.

Access to natural gas and crude oil is a current prerequisite for national security and the stable functioning of the economy. The critical importance of uninterrupted supplies has been clearly brought home to us by the crises of recent years—from the pandemic and the war in Ukraine to tensions in the Middle East that paralyzed supply chains.

Global demand for electricity will grow, mainly due to the development of energy-intensive digital technologies, advancing reindustrialization in many regions of the world, and a sharp increase in energy consumption in developing countries. Before modern, low- and zero-emission technologies fully dominate markets, a transitional period will be necessary. During this time, traditional fuels will play a key role, with particular emphasis on natural gas, which constitutes a safe bridge between emission-heavy coal and clean energy.

Natural gas goes to industry, households, and the energy sector. It is the basis for the functioning of petrochemistry and the fertilizer industry, among others. The perspective for the heating industry is particularly significant due to the high importance of coal in powering it. Crude oil forms the basis of the fuel industry, the production of plastics, and consequently the majority of the economy.

Debate on the Future of Oil and Gas

Today, a broad discussion about the future of the oil and gas sector is essential. The Polish Oil and Gas Congress is designed as a space to talk about the challenges facing the Polish and regional industry and energy sector. Although crude oil and natural gas will be the axis of the debate in Warsaw on October 21-22, discussions will go far beyond the role of these hydrocarbons. Event participants will focus on key trends shaping not only the oil and gas industry but also the broader energy sector and modern industry. The bulk of the discussions will concern new technologies, including the role of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced solutions supporting operations in the oil and gas sector.

An integral part of the Congress will be the Young Professionals Forum. This is a special platform dedicated to innovations, prospects, and new directions of sector development, aimed at young engineers, digitalization specialists, and local leaders. An important point of discussion will also be the domestic component, i.e., the expansion and strengthening of the potential of domestic companies, as well as their functioning as a modern, consumer-oriented engine of development. An accompanying event, dedicated to the latest achievements in oil and gas technology, future applications of decarbonized gases, and artificial intelligence, will be the 15th Polish Congress of Oil and Gas Engineers and Technicians, organized by the Scientific and Technical Association of Engineers and Technicians of the Oil and Gas Industry.
