“Piszczu” Captured in Croatia: One of Poland’s Most Elusive Hooligan Fugitives Apprehended

Polish police apprehended Patryk P., known as “Piszczu” and tied to the Wisła Sharks hooligan group, in Croatia on August 11 following an international manhunt for drug trafficking.

Police Target Wanted Hooligan Leader

“The case concerned one of the most wanted and elusive criminals associated with the fan club environment of one of Kraków’s football clubs. The man headed a hooligan gang,” the Lesser Poland Voivodeship Police Headquarters announced on Wednesday regarding the 41-year-old’s arrest.

Although investigators did not initially release the detainee’s identity, unofficial findings confirm the suspect is 41-year-old Patryk P., alias “Piszczu,” a member of the Wisła Sharks hooligan group.

Conviction and Drug Trafficking Scale

Patryk P. was sentenced by the Regional Court in Kraków to six years in prison for introducing and trading drugs as part of an organized criminal group between 2007 and 2017. Estimates suggest he may have introduced several hundred kilograms of various intoxicants into circulation during this period.

The man failed to report to serve his sentence, prompting the start of a search in March. In August, the court issued a European Arrest Warrant for Patryk P.

Evasion Tactics and Constant Vigilance

Police reported that the fugitive “was very vigilant and constantly changed his places of residence,” utilizing broad contacts within football hooligan environments across Poland with the help of acquaintances to successfully evade capture.

Police “Head Hunters” learned that the man had left the country and was moving across European nations before receiving intelligence that Patryk P. would appear in Italy and subsequently Croatia.

Midnight Arrest in Croatia

Authorities stated that the months of arduous work resulted in the apprehension of the fugitive in Croatia shortly after midnight on August 11, noting that he was surprised and did not expect officers to track down his location.

A Croatian court will now decide on the extradition of Patryk P. to Polish law enforcement agencies.
