15-Year-Old Riding Electric Motorcycle Capable of Nearly 100 km/h Stopped by Police in Warsaw

Warsaw police stopped a 15-year-old riding an unhomologated and uninsured electric motorcycle capable of reaching speeds near 100 km/h on Karmelicka Street without a license.

Police Intercept Unlicensed Teenager on Karmelicka Street

Officers from the 8th Company of the Police Prevention Unit in Warsaw stopped a 15-year-old riding an electric motorcycle on Karmelicka Street for a routine check. The teenager lacked the required driving license, and the vehicle itself had no homologation or mandatory insurance.

While patrolling Warsaw’s Śródmieście district, officers noticed the electric vehicle operator and checked both the teenager and the two-wheeler. Preliminary inspections conducted by the police revealed that the motorcycle could reach speeds of nearly 100 km/h.

Technical Parameters and Safety Risks

The electric motorcycle lacked homologation and was not covered by insurance. Due to the vehicle’s technical properties and parameters, officers secured the two-wheeler for preliminary inspection. The results showed capabilities significantly differing from typical bicycles or electric scooters, posing a danger to both the rider and other road participants in the hands of an unlicensed person.

The intervening officers handed the 15-year-old over to his mother’s care and secured the two-wheeler for further actions. The case of the child is currently being handled by officers from the Juvenile and Pathology Team of the Śródmieście district command, and the materials will be forwarded to the family court.

Appeal to Parents and Ongoing Police Actions

Authorities appeal to parents and guardians to carefully check the technical parameters and regulations governing public road use before purchasing fast electric vehicles for children. A bicycle-like appearance does not mean the vehicle is legally considered a bicycle, as high-speed vehicles may require appropriate licenses, homologation, registration, and mandatory insurance.

Police officers from the command station on Wilcza Street regularly conduct and participate in operations aimed at the safety of vulnerable road users, coordinated by KRP I – Śródmieście.
