Request for Safe-Conduct Mailed from Transnistria

A dramatic twist has emerged in the case of the former deputy justice minister. Marcin Romanowski’s application for a safe-conduct has been submitted to the Warsaw Regional Court. According to documents and postal stamps on the envelope, the parcel containing the letter from the suspect in the Justice Fund investigation was mailed in Tiraspol, the capital of the separatist and unrecognized state of Transnistria.

The Warsaw Regional Court’s press office reported that the application for a safe-conduct regarding the former deputy minister was received on August 4. It has been registered, and the matter is currently pending.

Court Spokesperson Confirms Letter from Separatist Region

Judge Anna Ptaszek, the criminal division spokesperson for the court, confirmed that the application was submitted by Mr. Marcin Romanowski. She added that both the letter and the envelope show the shipment to the court originated in Tiraspol within Transnistria.

Transnistria is a separatist region of Moldova that has functioned as an unrecognized state since the conflict in the early 1990s, largely due to Russian support. Information regarding Romanowski’s letter from Transnistria was previously reported unofficially on Wednesday by the RMF24 portal.
