Polish Armed Forces Day – Changing of the Guard at Piłsudski Square
The Polish Armed Forces Day celebrations will begin at 10:00 AM with a ceremonial changing of the guard in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Because of this, parking will be prohibited starting at 6:00 AM on Królewska Street from Krakowskie Przedmieście to Marszałkowska. From 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, drivers will not be able to cross Piłsudski Square and Królewska Street from Małachowski Square to Krakowskie Przedmieście. Tokarzewskiego-Karaszewicza Street will also be closed. Buses on lines 107, 111, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180, and 503 will run on detours.
August 15 Parade on Wisłostrada
The parade will begin at 12:00 PM. On Friday, Wisłostrada will be closed from Skłodowska-Curie Bridge to Gagarina Street. Connections to Wisłostrada will be cut off from the following: the Trasa AK and the Grota-Roweckiego Bridge, Aleja „Solidarności” and the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge, and the Poniatowski Bridge. From the Mokotów side, drivers will only be able to exit Wisłostrada onto the Trasa Łazienkowska toward the city center or onto the Łazienkowski Bridge.
Closed Streets During the Parade
Traffic changes will be in effect from Friday, August 14, at 4:00 PM until Saturday, August 15, at 4:00 PM. During this time, the following streets will be closed:
Parking Ban Along the Parade Route
From Friday at 8:00 PM to Saturday at 4:00 PM, the parking lot under the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge will be closed. Additionally, on Saturday from midnight to 4:00 PM, a parking ban will be in effect on the following streets: Krajewskiego, Zakroczymska, Jeziorańskiego, Wenedów, Sanguszki, Boleść, Mostowa, Bugaj, Karowa, Lipowa, Dobra, Wiślana, Gęsta, and Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie.
Detours for the Closed Wisłostrada
Drivers can bypass the closed section of Wisłostrada via Modlińska and Jagiellońska streets, followed by Wybrzeże Helskie, Wybrzeże Szczecińskie, and Wał Miedzeszyński.
People traveling from the direction of Łomianki will be directed onto Marymoncka Street, and then through Słowackiego, Mickiewicza, Andersa, and Marszałkowska streets.
Gdański and Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridges – Temporary Closure
On Saturday, between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, traffic will be completely halted during the aircraft flyover on:
Disruptions for Pedestrians and Cyclists
Bicycle paths along Wisłostrada from Krasińskiego Street to the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge will be closed.
It will not be possible to walk or ride across Wisłostrada at Krasińskiego, Wenedów, Ludna, and Łazienkowska. The underground pedestrian crossing at Sanguszki Street will also be closed.
From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, pedestrians and cyclists will also be unable to use the Magdalena Abakanowicz Footbridge and the Gdański Bridge.
Public Transport Changes on August 15
Following the closure of Wisłostrada and intersecting streets, meaning from Friday after 4:00 PM, the routes of bus lines 100, 106, 107, 108, 114, 118, 127, 131, 141, 159, 162, 166, 167, 185, 187, as well as night lines N14, N16, N33, N64, and N83, will change.
On Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, trams will run across the Gdański Bridge but will not stop at the stations.
After 11:00 AM, buses will also not stop at the Gdański Bridge, and between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, they will not operate at all across the Gdański Bridge and the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge. The routes of the following lines will change:
If tram traffic is suspended on the Śląsko-Dąbrowski and Gdański bridges, tram routes will also change for:
On Saturday between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM, metro trains on both lines will run more frequently.
