Rozwój Plus Association
The Rozwój Plus association initially interested 38 MPs and two senators. The Collaborative Disciplinary Court excluded them from the party on Thursday, August 13, for participating in this initiative, PAP reported. Joining it was also previously announced by, among others, Kalisz Mayor Krystian Kisanowski, Tomaszów Mazowiecki Mayor Marcin Witko, and Sieradz Mayor Paweł Osiewała. As it turned out, there are more applicants.
Małgorzata Janowska wants to join Rozwój Plus. “I have submitted a declaration of accession to the Rozwój Plus association,” Małgorzata Janowska informed in an interview with Onet, suggesting at the time that she did not know if she was accepted, as she was awaiting a response.
The former MP made no secret of being a supporter of Morawiecki’s initiative. This is evidenced by her post from July 31, when the “barbecue” inaugurating the association took place. “Great speech! I am proud of Mateusz Morawiecki’s stance. Thank you for your commitment and consistently presenting your vision for Poland,” Janowska wrote.
Janowska’s Career
Currently, Małgorzata Janowska is the deputy director of the Bełchatów Commune Culture and Sports Center, a position she assumed in the fall of 2024. Earlier, in December 2021, she became the economic and financial director at the Bełchatów Power Plant. However, Janowska began building her recognition in 2017 when she replaced MP Rafał Wójcikowski, who died in a traffic accident and was elected from the Kukiz’15 list in the Piotrków district.
Departure From PiS
The MP joined the PiS parliamentary club and won re-election in 2019. Two years later, Janowska left along with Zbigniew Girzyński and Arkadiusz Czartoryski as an expression of her opposition to, among other things, the government’s energy policy.
The MPs established the “Wybór Polska” circle at the end of June 2019. “I hope we will grow quickly. For now, we are a circle, but I hope that in the future we will be a club,” the MP said on June 29, 2021, in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz from Wyborcza. It is worth noting that a club consists of at least 15 MPs.
When asked if such a number of people could leave PiS, Janowska replied that “anything is possible.” “There are a lot of dissatisfied people, so there is a high probability that there might even be more people,” she assessed.
The reason for this dissatisfaction was supposedly the atmosphere inside the grouping. “I hope that in Law and Justice they will start respecting MPs and maybe then they will actually achieve something, because at the moment there is completely no such respect,” the MP assessed. Asked by the journalist if this is “authoritarianism,” she replied “most definitely.” She also noted that “there is also life and politics outside of PiS.”
The creation of the circle resulted in PiS losing its absolute majority in the Sejm, but the plans to form the circle failed because—as Wyborcza.pl wrote—Czartoryski returned to PiS in July and the circle collapsed, since it must have at least three members. Consequently, Girzyński and Janowska joined another circle, Polskie Sprawy. Later, the MP decided to return to the PiS club, but moved to Adam Bielan’s Republican Party. Kaczyński did not include her on his party’s lists before the 2023 parliamentary elections.
“And as history likes to repeat itself, I was not put on the PiS lists only because I was a threat, because I did too much for the region and fought for the energy sector, and now they want to punish all the people who are friendly to me. Are they afraid of me? Is this what fair politics looks like?” Janowska asked on September 5, 2023.
