VAT Reduction on Motor Fuels
The Ministry of Finance is reintroducing a VAT rate reduction from 23% to 8% on selected motor fuels. This decision, effective from August 17 to 31, responds to the dynamic situation on international markets, while Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the reactivation of the CPN program to lower driver costs by 90 groszy to over 1 PLN per liter and make Polish fuel some of the cheapest in Europe.
Reactivation of the CPN Program
In response to dynamic conditions in global fuel markets, the reduced VAT rate has been reinstated for specific motor fuels—including gasolines, diesel oils, and standalone biocomponents covered previously under the CPN program from March 31 to June 30. The Ministry of Finance stated this will apply from August 17 to August 31.
Statements on Price Reductions
Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that restoring the CPN program and cutting the fuel VAT from 23% to 8% will decrease prices by approximately 90 groszy to over 1 PLN per liter. He added that the Minister of Energy will daily inform the public about maximum possible station prices to prevent fuel corporations from exploiting the tax cut.
Poland’s Fuel Prices in Europe
The Prime Minister emphasized that these measures mean Poland will maintain some of the lowest fuel prices in all of Europe.
