Unconscious Man Discovered at Tram Stop
Municipal guards patrolling the Włochy district of Warsaw on Thursday evening, August 13, 2026, noticed a man sitting in an unnatural position at a tram stop on Aleja Krakowska. Upon approaching the approximately 45-year-old man at house number 216 after 7 PM, officers found him unconscious, not breathing, and without a discernible pulse.
Inspector Mirosław Prusik from the Municipal Guard School Department noted that although officers hoped the man had merely fainted, the situation proved far more dramatic as he remained completely unresponsive to all stimuli.
Immediate CPR and AED Deployment
Having confirmed the absence of pulse and respiration, officers immediately initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation. One guard began chest compressions while the other retrieved the automated external defibrillator from the patrol vehicle, a device standard in nearly all active Warsaw municipal vehicles.
The guards continued CPR and monitored the man’s condition for roughly 15 minutes until two emergency medical rescue teams arrived at the scene.
Paramedic Handover and Hospital Transport
Upon arrival, paramedics took over the rescue operation, utilizing a specialized mechanical chest compression device to continue resuscitation efforts.
The battle for the 45-year-old man’s life lasted for about another 15 minutes, after which medical personnel successfully restored his vital signs before transporting him to a hospital.
Municipal Guard Rescue Qualifications
The entire operation from the initial start of CPR by municipal guards to the restoration of vital signs took approximately half an hour.
The Warsaw Municipal Guard reports that over 150 of its officers currently hold official rescue qualifications, with remaining personnel also regularly undergoing pre-medical aid training.
