Higher Unemployment Benefits and Activation Bonuses for 2026

Effective June 1, 2026, Poland has increased unemployment benefits and introduced a new 892 PLN gross monthly activation bonus for eligible individuals who secure employment or start a business independently.

New Rates for Activation Bonuses

Starting June 1, 2026, the activation bonus has risen to 892 PLN gross per month. This benefit is designed to incentivize unemployed individuals to return to the labor market more quickly by providing financial support that can be collected alongside a salary.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

The bonus is intended for those registered as unemployed who are entitled to benefits and choose to find work or start a business on their own initiative, rather than waiting for a referral from a labor office. The payment is issued for half of the period for which the individual would have remained eligible for standard unemployment benefits.

Claiming the Benefit

To receive the support, applicants must submit a formal request to the labor office where they are registered. For those starting their own business, the bonus is granted in accordance with de minimis aid regulations.

Duration and Payment Terms

The activation bonus is paid starting from the date of the application submission. Depending on the remaining duration of an individual’s unemployment benefit period, the total support can reach several thousand zlotys.

Exclusions and Limitations

Not every registered unemployed person is entitled to the activation bonus. Eligibility is strictly conditional on having an existing right to unemployment benefits and taking the initiative to secure employment or business ownership.
