Eligibility for the Rescue Supplement
As of March 2026, the rescue supplement is set at 288 PLN per month, totaling 3,456 PLN annually. This financial support, established in December 2021, is reserved specifically for retired volunteer firefighters and mountain rescuers who meet age and service duration requirements.
Women qualify at age 60 with 20 years of documented service, while men qualify at age 65 with 25 years of activity. While the service does not need to be continuous, records—or witness statements for actions before 2011—are mandatory to verify the service.
Application Procedure and Verification
To apply, individuals must obtain a form from the State Fire Service (PSP) or a local district headquarters. If documentation for service before 2011 is missing, applicants must provide witness statements confirmed by municipal authorities.
Completed documents are submitted to the local PSP, followed by a decision-making process that typically spans several weeks. Once approved by the Retirement and Pension Office of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, payments are issued automatically each month.
Payment Schedule and Financial Impact
The 288 PLN supplement is disbursed monthly and is guaranteed to reach beneficiaries no later than the 15th day of the month. This payment schedule remains consistent regardless of other pensions or benefits the individual may receive.
The rescue supplement does not affect the amount of a standard pension, nor does it impact eligibility for the fourteenth pension, nursing supplements, social assistance, or family benefits. The full amount is paid without reducing other forms of financial support.
Statistical Overview of Benefits
Between January and October 2023, the Ministry of Interior and Administration processed 112,791 applications, with 112,106 approvals. Only 37 applicants appealed negative decisions, leading to 18 favorable reversals. The highest volume of applications was recorded in the Mazowieckie, Wielkopolskie, and Lubelskie provinces.
