Dawid Kacprzyk Resigns from Civic Coalition Amid Hospital Attendance Probe

Civic Coalition Warsaw chair Marcin Kierwiński has accepted the resignation of Dawid Kacprzyk, a district councilor and doctor currently under investigation for alleged discrepancies between his hospital shifts and public appearances.

Resignation and Professional Investigation

Marcin Kierwiński, head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and chair of the Civic Coalition in Warsaw, confirmed he has accepted Dawid Kacprzyk’s resignation from the party. Simultaneously, the Supreme Medical Chamber has submitted a report to the medical ombudsman following media reports suggesting Kacprzyk’s hospital shifts overlapped with appearances in the Senate and on television.

The spokesperson for the Supreme Medical Chamber, Jakub Kosikowski, stated that if the reports are confirmed, it would constitute professional misconduct and abandonment of a medical shift, providing grounds for disciplinary proceedings.

Employment Status and Specialization

Kacprzyk is currently undergoing anesthesiology specialization. According to Sebastian Goncerz, head of the Residents’ Agreement, residents are employed by hospitals with salaries funded by the Ministry of Health. In contrast, non-resident doctors are hired on market terms and may earn significantly less depending on the facility’s contracts.

City Audit at South Hospital

In response to the allegations, Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski has ordered an urgent audit at South Hospital, where Kacprzyk is employed. City officials are currently inspecting the facility to address potential irregularities in work organization.

Mayor Trzaskowski emphasized that healthcare is too critical to allow for ambiguity, citing concerns over both patient safety and the use of taxpayer funds. He vowed that consequences will follow if any irregularities are confirmed during the ongoing audit of the hospital and other city-run emergency departments.
