Czarzasty’s Wealth Disclosure: Steep Losses in Stock Portfolio Offset by Real Estate Gains

The latest wealth disclosure from Speaker of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty reveals that while his investments in MUZA S.A. suffered significant depreciation, his net worth remains bolstered by rising property values.

Investment Losses and Portfolio Rebalancing

The most significant change in Włodzimierz Czarzasty’s assets is a sharp decline in the value of his stake in the publishing house MUZA S.A. Holding over 30,000 shares, the speaker saw his investment drop from over 450,000 PLN to approximately 231,000 PLN, marking a loss of nearly 220,000 PLN.

To mitigate market volatility, Czarzasty has increased his exposure to safer financial instruments. He currently holds 2,150 government bonds valued at roughly 226,000 PLN, bringing the total value of his securities portfolio to approximately 458,000 PLN.

Savings and Retirement Security

Czarzasty maintains a diverse financial safety net, including roughly 185,000 PLN in Bank Pekao accounts and minor balances in brokerage houses. He keeps 70,000 PLN and 5,000 EUR in cash reserves.

Long-term financial security is managed through a life insurance policy with a guaranteed pension from Unum, valued at 125,000 PLN with a surrender value of 261,000 PLN, alongside 154,000 PLN held in an Individual Retirement Account (IKE) with Allianz.

Real Estate Assets

The speaker’s real estate holdings remain the foundation of his wealth. He reports a 255-square-meter house valued at 1.7 million PLN, a 35-square-meter apartment worth 400,000 PLN, and a half-hectare developed property valued at 2.7 million PLN.

The valuation of these assets has seen a notable increase compared to previous years, effectively offsetting the capital market losses sustained in his stock portfolio.

Personal Collections and Movable Assets

Czarzasty’s disclosure lists unique personal assets, including a library of approximately 15,000 volumes valued at 80,000 PLN. This collection is noted as one of the largest private libraries declared by a parliamentarian.

Additionally, he holds a collection of paintings valued at 80,000 PLN, gold items worth 30,000 PLN, household equipment valued at 40,000 PLN, and a motor yacht worth approximately 20,000 PLN.

Income and Financial Standing

The speaker’s primary income stems from public office functions, which exceeded 311,000 PLN, supplemented by over 47,000 PLN in parliamentary per diems and 29,000 PLN in rental income.

Notably, Czarzasty reported zero debts, mortgages, or financial liabilities. This lack of leverage renders his financial position one of the most stable among leading figures in the Polish political landscape.
