What is the Mikroretencja 2026 Program?
Formerly known as Moja Woda, the Mikroretencja program launched on June 1, 2026. It encourages single-family homeowners to invest in systems that capture and utilize rainwater for gardening, cleaning, and flushing toilets.
Beyond personal savings, the program supports environmental protection by reducing the impact of drought and heat, while simultaneously lowering the risk of local flooding following heavy rainfall. The initiative is backed by 173 million PLN from the European FEnIKS 2021-2027 fund.
Funding Scope and Financial Details
Support covers the purchase, delivery, installation, construction, and operation of rainwater collection systems. Participants can receive a refund of up to 90% of eligible costs, with a maximum grant of 8,000 PLN.
The program operates on a reimbursement basis, requiring applicants to complete the investment and submit invoices for finalized projects. Costs incurred starting from July 1, 2024, may be eligible for reimbursement, provided the applicant has not previously received support from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
Eligibility and Application Process
Applicants must own a single-family home, including those under construction, provided the building is commissioned before the payment request is submitted. The subsidy is not available for properties that previously received funding from the Moja Woda program, and installations must not be used for business or agricultural activities.
Applications officially open on June 22, 2026. Documents must be submitted to the relevant Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, which oversees the program under agreements with the National Fund.
Benefits of Rainwater Harvesting
Systems properly designed to manage rainwater can significantly lower reliance on municipal water networks, offering noticeable cost savings. Furthermore, retaining more water on the property increases resilience against drought and reduces the volume of runoff directed into storm drains.
