The Price of Mobility: Money vs. Lifestyle
For 69 percent of surveyed office workers, a guaranteed salary increase is the top condition for considering a move. Improving one’s quality of life—defined by better daily living conditions, shorter commutes, and environmental comfort—ranks as the second most vital factor.
Job stability is a deciding factor for 45 percent of respondents, while 28 percent cite professional development as a priority. Notably, a 25 percent salary bump is the threshold needed to incentivize relocation both domestically and internationally.
Demographic Shifts in Relocation Willingness
Willingness to relocate varies significantly by role and gender. Junior managers show the highest mobility, while senior specialists are the least likely to consider moving for professional reasons.
Gender differences also persist: women prioritize family-centered relocations or housing guarantees, whereas men remain primarily driven by higher earnings. Additionally, 54 percent of junior specialists fear that relocation could compromise their employment stability, highlighting a key barrier for employers.
The Changing Landscape of the Polish Labor Market
Konrad Grygo, senior business analyst at OLX Praca, notes that the rise in domestic wages and low unemployment have reduced the necessity of moving abroad for financial gain. With remote and hybrid work models becoming standard, relocation is no longer an automatic requirement for career advancement.
To attract talent, companies must now offer comprehensive support packages that include housing guarantees and family-focused considerations. Experts advise employers to prioritize workplace flexibility and hybrid options over traditional relocation demands, ensuring that any potential move offers a clear boost to an employee’s overall quality of life.
